Differences Between Adjustable and Hospital Bed

Those individuals who have debilitating illnesses whose Dr. have told them that they require a Hospital bed for home care needs are disappointed at the prospect of having now to be reliant on a bed that though necessary for their health, will not only be cumbersome in their home, but triggers memories of how uncomfortable they are as well. With a Hospital bed being only about as wide as a twin size bed, and most patients having been used to either a Full or Queen size bed before the onset of their illness, the reality for their mandatory need of this type of bed adds undue stress that is detrimental to their recuperative ability as well!
Today’s adjustable bed offers all the adjustment of a Hospital bed, yet with even greater elevation capabilities for both the head and foot ends. The motor drive systems are much quieter yet with the strong lifting ability of its medical counterpart, and the head of the bed does not pull away from the wall when elevating the head of the bed as a Hospital bed does. What keeps the head of an adjustable bed against the wall, is an available feature known as “Wall Holding” technology. This feature allows ease of access when retrieving something from a nightstand, and lessens the chance of a pillow falling behind the head of the bed.
An adjustable bed can also offer raising and lowering capabilities for height adjustment, and side rails can be attached for safety concerns, just like a Hospital bed can. Other comfort advantages include the availability of wave therapeutic massage, and wireless remote control. Significance is the availability of a feature known as Zero Gravity. This feature greatly aids in the reduction of Edema and circulation, as well as decompresses the spine by slightly elevating the legs above the heart line, and placing the hips and spine in an optimal pressure relieving angle.
Today adjustable beds are aesthetically designed to look like ordinary beds that have mattresses and box springs, and have the advantage of being able to be integrated into existing bedroom furniture. They are sized and designed to be able to fit within virtually all bed frames; i.e. rail beds, poster beds, sleigh beds. This integration ability significantly contributes to the “feel more at home” effect, and negates the hospital like atmosphere experienced to those using a Hospital bed at home.
Adjustable beds are also available to be fitted with rehabilitative assist devices such as a Haier lift, for example.
An adjustable bed is designed to be virtually as durable as any Hospital bed. They are constructed with high tensile Carbon Powder Coated Steal in a Uni Body fashion for excellent structural strength. When all factors are considered, most all individuals having the need of a Hospital bed can successfully utilize an adjustable bed to satisfy the support and therapeutic requirements for their medical needs.
