How do I know if I need a new mattress?
The easiest way to determine
the need for a new mattress is to judge your current sleep.
If you toss and turn, wake up in the middle of the night, or wake up
with a sore back, your mattress needs replacing. Any spring mattress
over 8 years old should also be replaced. Good sleep is one of the most
important factors in your quality of life. Don't compromise your sleep
with a bad mattress.
Why
is AstraBeds recommended by thousands of medical professionals?
Jeffrey
K. Bergin, DC, dean at the National University of Health Sciences in
Lombard, Ill says the memory foam mattress is best for anyone
with back pain or osteoarthritis. "The spine is not a
straight line, and padding or a moderately firm mattress 'gives' better
to the concavities and convexities of the spine," he says. "A younger
spine may tolerate a firm mattress perfectly well. But as we get middle
years and beyond, when back pain is more prevalent, we find that more
equalized support seems to be better." "It gets as close to weightless
sleep as possible," says Bergin. "It supports the entire body at all
the pressure points as though you're floating. It really is a
remarkable discovery.” By sleeping on AstraBeds, blood flows
freely throughout your body without harmful capillary compression and
restriction caused by pressure points. Our products are currently used
by medical facilities around the world to help prevent and cure
pressure ulcers that are caused by counter pressure, perspiration,
and/or poor circulation. Furthermore we carry the only mattress
clinically proven to reduce nighttime tossing and turning by more than
70%! Remember that 1/3 of your life is spent in bed and that
time is for restoration and recuperation. Many people sleep without
restoration and recuperation, consequently waking up tired and sore.
What
is HR foam?
HR foam is a higher grade (anti-microbial) version of polyurethane foam.
Will
normal sheets work on my new AstraBed?
Yes, normal sheets
will work on your AstraBed. If you choose to order an AstraBed from us
11 inches, or more, in thickness then you might want to consider using
deep-pocket sheets which are easy to find and usually cost only a
couple dollars more that regular sheets.
Can
we use your bed as a waterbed replacement?
Of course you can.
Depending on the dimensions, our matrasses should fit with your
waterbed. If you are unsure, simply give us a call at with your
dimensions handy, and we will make sure that our mattresses can be used
in your waterbed frame.
Can
I use my existing bed and box spring?
While you can
certainly use your existing box spring, we usually recommend that you
order a foundation because a foundation is a completely firm and
completely flat surface for your bed to lie on. This will ensure that
your bed contours completely to you and your body and not to any soft
spots of slats in a box spring. We do recommend placing a sheet of
plywood over your boxspring if you choose to use it.
How does AstraBeds Compare
to:
a)
waterbeds?
Waterbed mattresses do not wear
out fast like many innerspring beds. Waterbed heaters allow you to get
to sleep instantly because your waterbed mattress is already warmed up
when you slide into bed. However, the "hammocking effect" you get from
a worn out innerspring mattress can also be experienced with a full
motion waterbed mattress. Sleeping in a full motion mattress for a
number of years can cause problems.
b)
airbeds?
Select Comfort is one the
fastest growing U.S. bed providers and the maker of the well-known Sleep
Number Bed (*est.
$1,600 to $2,300, queen size) . AstraBeds offers the one
thing that airbeds and/or select number beds wish they could offer: The
only pressure less sleep system in the industry! Air mattresses try to
tell consumers to pick a level of comfort by making a mattress firmer
or less firm. What they don't tell a consumer is to fill the air bag
inside the mattress, they must use AIR PRESSURE. It doesn't matter
whether it has a low level of air or a high level of air because of not
having a hole in the bag, the air is trapped, which keeps it full,
causing pressure. Pressure is the root of most people's tossing and
turning as they try to sleep. As a side note, air mattresses, over the
years, have begun to fall into the same pattern as coiled mattresses,
putting larger and larger pillow tops on their beds, trying to help
mask the pressure. This gives consumers the illusion of pressure relief.
c) inner spring
In 1871, the innerspring
mattress was invented. Much has changed in over 133 years.
Mattress technology has changed too! Coils are a spring product
designed to hold a persons weight. In doing so, no matter how many
coils a mattress has, whether it is 312 or 1000, it still puts pressure
on the human spine. This causes the tossing and turning that many
coiled mattress owners experience. That’s the
reason innerspring mattresses have so much padding on them now is to
protect your body from the springs! Did you know A typical
used innerspring mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million
mites inside of it! AstraBeds are dust mite resistant and anti
microbial, which makes a significant difference if you suffer from
allergies and asthma. Furthermore AstraBeds doesn’t
create any pressure points and it offers you the much-needed cushion
and comfort for sound and problem free sleep.
